Sunday, November 5thHappy Sunday!
I hope you all got a chance to review the unit 2 and unit 2 cumulative math assessments with your children. They all worked very hard on this test, and they did very well!
As promised, The Reading Red Sox will be celebrating their reading success from the month of October on Tuesday at 9:50. They have earned an extra recess by surpassing last year's reading goal by over 300,000 words! Every student in this class has contributed to this success.
In science we are wrapping up our energy and motion unit this week (and a few days into next week) with electrical energy. The students will have a chance to create their own flashlights and experiment with circuitry.
In social studies (and part of reading/language) the students will be spending some time researching and creating an explanatory essay on a New Hampshire animal of their choice. They will be learning about how to create an opening paragraph and organizing their essay into separate paragraphs using topic sentences and supporting details. This is a favorite project among the students, and they always do a nice job organizing and presenting these projects. I am looking forward to hearing what each student decides to research!
Don't forget this Thursday is the Community Meeting. We have many Reading Red Sox students who will be presenting their creative pieces of literature or music. I hope you get the opportunity to join us for this event; I am sure the students would love to see you there!
Enjoy Your Week!
