Wow! One more week before February vacation. It feels like we just returned from the last holiday break. We have a lot in store for the upcoming week.
First, we are finishing up unit 5 in math and the test will be on Thursday, February 22nd. The students have completed one study guide and we will work on two more before the test day. They will continue to bring home double digit multiplication problems this week as well.
Our book reviews are ALMOST all completed and we are well underway with our persuasive writing. This week we WILL also have spelling and grammar packets. We are beginning our Unit 4 Week 1 unit of study in our Wonders Reading Program. Our essential question for the week is "Why do we need government?"
This question ties directly with our social studies unit on government. The students have started their research on our national and state government as well as our civic duties. I foresee powerpoint presentations taking place AFTER vacation. I will make sure to keep you posted on these.
Ask your child to tell you about the Olympic competition they are in when they attend our specials. It has been a lot of fun and they look forward to seeing their scores at the end of each class!
Finally, I do have a friendly reminder for you all. Please make sure to ask your children to show you their completed work in their manilla folder every Monday night. This work is supposed to be taken OUT of the folder and kept at home. Many of the students still have work in their folders when we pass back the following week's corrected work. Also, don't forget to sign and return ANY dental slips as soon as possible.
Enjoy This Beautiful Sunday!
